Not sure many of you pay attention to such geeky news as I do, but the end of the world was supposed to happen on Wednesday at about 2:30pm. Actually it was only a test run for an upcoming experiment that will happen in a month that some believe will cause a black hole. Why would scientists spend 13 years, $6 billion and tunnel 300 feet underground for a 17 mile long circular track? To see how the beginning of the world happened!
It’s funny the lengths mankind will go to find what truths they can acquire. It’s always been something to consume our minds. Unfortunately, those scientists are not content with the Genesis 1 account in the Bible. I imagine there are some Christians working on the project that would agree and say, “Yes, I know he did it, but I want to know HOW he did it!” I guess speaking things into existence is a bit hard to comprehend, but then again... he is God. I’m not sure we’ll ever know exactly how the creation of the universe happened, or how it looked as he created it (unless it just popped into existence as he spoke it). I just have the faith that He caused it, and is continuing to cause it (there’s still quite a few undiscovered forces that are still unexplained... I like to attribute them to God). Just as we will never know how the world came to be (at least, not until we get into heaven), we also can’t predict when the world will end. There’s the belief from some people that once this largest machine in the world fires up and collides a few protons together, it will cause a micro-blackhole that will eventually eat up the earth and everything around it. No body really knows what will happen once they fire it up though. Nothing might happen. There’s also the belief that the world will end December 21, 2012 as is according to some Mayan calendar, and astrological beliefs. I’m not sure how they figured that one out, but I’m sure like many of the previous predicted dates about the end of the world... they will come and go. It won’t be until God has deemed it time to end. Only God knows when the world will end. It is something that God keeps to himself. “Remember, therefore, what you have received and heard; obey it, and repent. But if you do not wake up, I will come like a thief, and you will not know at what time I will come to you.” -Rev. 3:3 So make the most of every opportunity and seek after the kingdom first.
