Sex is beautiful. Sex is wonderful. Sex. Is. Good. Period. God created sex. Would he have created anything, called it good, and then proclaimed it evil? I don’t think so. In the first couple of chapters of the Bible, God creates Adam and Eve and he calls his creation “Very Good”. It wasn’t until God had created Eve that his work was finished, and then he could say it was “Very Good”.

He gives them a couple of commandments to start with... something about a tree (which got ignored, we’ll come back to that), and also something about sex. He said...

“Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it.”
-Gen 1:28

Essentially, he says, “Go have fun kids!” There’s even a whole book in the Bible that reveals an explicit relationship between Solomon and his “Beloved”! Jews didn’t let their children read that book until they were at least 13. And they would be right to do so.

But...

Sex is only good if it’s the way God intended it. That is, between a man and woman married for life. Leave it to Satan, the ultimate sinsmith, to take something good and twist it into many many bad variations. Pornography, lust, adultery, fornication, immodesty, homosexuality, beastiality, coarse joking, etc.Even looking back at the Garden of Eden, before the first sin, Adam and Eve were naked and had no shame (Gen 2:25). Then once the first sin had been commited... EVERYTHING had been twisted and distorted. Satan made what was once a good thing into several bad deviations. Adam and Eve no longer felt comfortable with their own bodies in front of God... who had made them.

Our world today, permeated with sex on TV, Movies, Radio, Magazines, Internet, School and other media, has domineered the topic of sex, while our church has taken the approach to hide it and keep it hush hush. The world has been spreading the wrong message about sex for too long. The church needs to stand up, clear its throat, and declair what God intended sex to be. Good.

Over the next several weeks, I will be writing articles based on the topic of sex. As awkward as it will be for both you and your parents, I would encourage you to strike up wholesome conversations about this topic and discuss it together. I think it will  be beneficial for you both. I understand that soon we will be taking a video series on this topic for the next quarter as will. I hope that these upcoming articles will aid in our study.
